CLASSIC RAJASTHAN   

DELHI-MANDAWA-BIKANER-JAISALMER-MANVAR-JODHPUR-UDAIPUR-DEOGARH-SAMODE (JAIPUR)-AGRA-DELHI


DAY 01 Arrive Delhi
Arrive New Delhi, the Indian Capital where you will be met at arrival and transferred to your hotel.  

Day 02 Delhi
Morning is at Leisure. Afternoon’s sightseeing takes you to the Presidential Palace, the one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys; the India Gate, a memorial raised in honour of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war and a drive along the Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings. Visit Qutab Minar, the 12th century tower of victory built by a slave king and prototype of all minars (towers) in India. Also visit Humayun’s tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal.  Early evening visit the Laxminarayan Temple to see the evening Puja ceremony. Welcome Dinner at an Indian restaurant accompanied with ethnic folk dances & music.

Day 03  - Delhi
This morning, a visit to Old Delhi, the former Mughal Capital includes the majestic Red Fort, the vibrant bazaars of Chandni Chowk and the Jama Masjid mosque.  On your way back, visit the Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

Afternoon is at leisure. In the evening you can choose to visit an Indian Family Home and your hosts will be happy to invite you for dinner and cocktails. Optionally, we would be happy to arrange for a visit to the theatre or music show of the day.

Day 04 Delhi –Mandawa  (250 kms )
This morning, drive to Mandawa, which takes about 4-5 hours.  Later in the afternoon, visit the Havelis and Fort. Mandawa is a small town in the heart of Shekhawati region. The place is known not only for its havelis but also for its Fort Palace. Of the havelis, the most important are the Chokhani, Ladia, Binsidhar Newatia, and Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli. Another haveli, the Binsidhar Newatia Haveli, is known for its curious paintings. There is a painting of a boy holding a telephone and a European woman in a car driven by a chauffeur. The Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli is famous for its erotic images, now mostly defaced.

Day 05 Mandawa – Bikaner

Drive to Bikaner in your private chauffeur driven car. The journey takes about 5 hours further north west of Mandawa
In the afternoon visit the sights including Junagarh Fort & The camel breeding farm.
Day 06 Bikaner- Jaisalmer
Drive to the desert town of Jaisalmer and stay here for 2 nights.
The Bhatti Rajput chieftain Rawal Jaisal founded Jaisalmer in the year 1156.

Rest of the day is at leisure to relax and perhaps enjoy the pool.

Day 07 Jaisalmer
This morning visit the Jaisalmer Fort (the second oldest fort in Rajasthan after Chittaur), Patwon ki Haveli, (the grandest haveli of Jaisalmer), Desert Culture centre and museums gives you some glimpse of this small town’s past. The Jain temples, Salim Singh ki haveli and Nathmal-ki-haveli give you some more idea of the haveli architecture of the town. Besides these, Gadsisar Lake is also included in your sightseeing tour.
Day 08 Jaisalmer-Manvar
Drive to Manvar in the heart of the Thar Desert. You will go for a camel safari through the sand dunes in the evening when you get to view amazing sunset. Staying in the tented camp will be an interesting experience. Sometimes, they have folk dancers enchanting you in the evening bonfire.
 
Day 09 Manvar – Jodhpur
This morning leave for Jodhpur, which is famous for forts and palaces. Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Mandore Gardens, Old Fort Museum and Balsamand Lake are sights you will visit post lunch.

Day 10 Jodhpur – Udaipur
Drive to Udaipur visiting Ranakpur enroute. Ranakpur is a quaint little village with intricately carved temples. The evening is at leisure.
 
Day 11 Udaipur
The city is famous for its palaces, lakes, museums, temples, and gardens. The City Palace and Museum is considered as the largest palace complex in Rajasthan and its museum has stunning collection of objects collected by different Maharanas of Udaipur over the centuries. Other sights that will visit include Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon Ki Bari, Jag Mandir,and Ahar Museum. Besides, most beautiful lakes of the state are in Udaipur.
 
Day 12 Udaipur – Deogarh
Drive to Deogarh Mahal, a fortified palace in the heart of the Deogarh village. The magnificent Deogarh Palace now functions as a heritage hotel. Gokal Vilas is the residence of present Rawat, who is also a well-known art historian. Enjoy the hospitality of the warm royal family. Visit the village to see village life and to the ruined Anjaneshwar Mahadev temple which is more than 2,000 years old
 
Day 13 Deogarh – Samode (Jaipur)
After breakfast, this morning leave for Samode in a private chauffeur driven car.  On arrival check in your hotel for two nights.

Afternoon sightseeing of Jaipur includes the City Palace known for its blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Not far away is the Central Museum with its large collection of woodwork, jewellery, costumes, brassware, and pottery. Another monument near the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, is the largest of the five observatories built by Sawai Jai Singh. The Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds was constructed for the royal ladies to watch the royal processions without being seen.

 
Day 14 Samode
Morning excursion to Amber Fort, situated just outside the city, is perhaps the most beautiful examples of Rajasthani forts and gives a grand view of the city down below. You can have the unique experience of travelling on elephant back to and from the top of the hill on which the fort is situated. This afternoon is free to independently explore the crowded and colourful lanes of the pink city’s bazaars.
 

Day 15 Samode – Agra
Visit the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri enroute. Optional visit to the Bharatpur sanctuary is available and can be arranged at short notice.
 
After checking in at your hotel, visit the magnificent Taj Mahal. India’s most famous world heritage monument was built by Shah Jahan for his beloved, Mumtaz Mahal in the 17th century.  Also visit the Agra Fort on the banks of the Yamuna. Return to see the Taj Mahal at sunset.

Day 16 Agra - Delhi
In the morning drive back to Delhi visiting a local village en route. The rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities and last minute shopping.  

Day 17  Leave Delhi
In time transfer to the airport for your departure flight for onward destination.
