Dargahon ki Tizarat

Delhi – Ajmer – Jaipur – Agra – Delhi    (6 Days - 5 Nights)

A
jmer is an oasis wrapped in the green hills. The city was founded by Raja Ajay Pal Chauhan in the 7th Century A.D. and continued to be a major center of the Chauhan power till 1193 A.D. When Prithviraj Chauhan lost it to Mohammed Ghauri. Since then, Ajmer became home to many dynasties.

Today, Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage center for the Hindus as well as Muslims. Especially famous is the Dargah Sharif-tomb of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, which is equally revered by the Hindus and Muslims. It is a center of culture and education.













Day 01        Arrive Delhi
Met on arrival and transfer to hotel.

Day 02        Delhi
In the morning proceed for a sightseeing tour of the Old Delhi - a multi - layered city. Our first stop is the Red Fort built by the great Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan when he shifted his capital from Agra. A short drive brings us to the Great Mosque - The Jama Masjid. Drive on to see the memorial built for Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Afternoon Sightseeing tour of New Delhi includes a visit to the Qutub Minar - the tallest stone tower in India built in 1191 AD. Chhatarpur Temple - the most popular Hindu temple with blissful tranquility and serene ambience. Continue to Humayun's Tomb believed to have been designed by his widow.  Its plan is based on the description of Islamic paradise gardens and is known to have inspired the Taj Mahal and many later Mughal tombs. Also visit the Bahai Temple - a lotus shaped structure. It is made of marble, cement, dolomite and sand. It is open to all faiths and is an ideal place for meditation and obtaining peace and tranquility.

Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.


Day 03        Delhi - Ajmer
        
Early morning check-out of the hotel and transfer to the railway station in time to board Ajmer Shatabdi Express for Ajmer. Upon arrival transfer to the Hotel. Later in the day city tour of Ajmer - it is venerated as a holy place for both Hindus and the Muslims. It has the mausoleum of the Sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Known as the ‘Dargah Sharif’ the last resting place of the saint who died in 1235.

A short walk north of the Dargah brings you to the oldest surviving monument of Ajmer’s Muslim rule, the remarkable Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpara. In 1193 A.D, the Afghan Mohammad Ghori conquered Ajmer and converted a Sanskrit school into a mosque by adding a seven arched wall in front of the pillared hall.

Evening at leisure to explore the local market. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04       Ajmer – Jaipur (Drive: 142 Kms approx 02 hours)
Check-out of the hotel and drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival and check-in at the hotel, later in the day city tour of Jaipur and visit The City Palace which is a visitors delight. Within the walls are several Palaces and museums resplendent with collections of the princely era, the Jantar Mantar an outdoor observatory built

in 1726 by Jai Singh, a notable astronomer King. It houses instruments of astronomy with astonishing accuracy, which gives accurate predictions to this day. Drive to the Palace of Winds (Hawa Mahal), a five story high Palace having a facade of windows and latticed screens which allowed the Ladies of the Court, in bygone days, to sit and view the streets of the city.

Evening at leisure to explore the local market. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 05        Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri – Agra (Drive: 250 km / 4 ½ hrs)
Morning excursion to the Amber Fort which is perched on a hill.  An Elephant transports us inside the fort which houses a Marble Palace, Temple of Victory and a Hall of Mirrors.  

Later in the day check-out of the hotel and drive to Agra. En-route visit Fatehpur Sikri  - the deserted capital city of the Emperor Akbar. Also visit the mosque built by Emperor Akbar in the memory of Sufi Saint Sheikh Salim Chisti. Later commence drive to Agra. Arrive Agra and check-in at the hotel.

Evening at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 06           Agra – Delhi (Drive: 204 km / 4 hrs) – Departure Delhi
Morning proceed for a sightseeing of the Agra city visiting the Taj Mahal - built by a grief-stricken emperor, Shah Jehan, as a memorial of eternal love for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, Agra Fort which perhaps offers the most moving view of the Taj Mahal from its octagonal tower situated across the River Jamuna.

Later in the day check-out of the hotel and drive to Delhi. En-route visit Sikandra – Emperor Akbar’s tomb at Sikandra is a magnificent gateway, covered with floral and geometrical arabesque decoration in white and coloured marble. Four elegant Minarets surround the tomb.

Arrive Delhi and direct transfer to the International airport in time to board your flight for onward destination.
