THE ROYAL SOJOURN
This tour invites both the first time visitors and those who want to see a bit more than Rajasthan. It is a combination of rural life, palaces of Rajasthan, ancient, Medeival and Indo saracenic styles of architecture and contrasting metropolitans. The highlight of the tour is perhaps the Ajanta & Ellora caves near Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Besides, you will see the beauty of taj at sunset and sunrise. Other exclusives include a visit to the prayer ceremony at a Hindu Temple in Delhi; Rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi and a cultural evening with Indian folk dances in Rajasthan.
JEWELS OF INFORMATION
Indo Saracenic Style of architecture came with the British who used Persian Muslim designs & Indian materials to construct amazing styles. Great examples are the buildings in Mumbai including Prince of Wales Museum, University Hall & library and the Gateway of India. These influences are also seen in a mild manner in Luytens’ Delhi, especially in the Presidential Palace (Rashtarpati Bhawan).
DAY 01 Arrive Delhi
Arrive New Delhi, the Indian Capital where you will be met at arrival and transferred to your hotel.
Day 02 Delhi
Morning is at Leisure. Afternoon’s sightseeing takes you to the Presidential Palace, India Gate and a drive along the Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings. Visit Qutab Minar and Humayun’s tomb.
Early evening visit the Laxminarayan Temple to see the evening Puja ceremony. Welcome Dinner at an Indian restaurant accompanied with ethnic folk dances & music.
Day 03 - Delhi
This morning, a visit to Old Delhi, includes the majestic Red Fort, the vibrant bazaars of Chandni Chowk and the Jama Masjid mosque. On your way back, visit the Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.
Afternoon is at leisure. In the evening you can choose to visit an Indian Family Home and your hosts will be happy to invite you for dinner and cocktails. Optionally, we would be happy to arrange for a visit to the theatre or music show of the day.
Day 04 Delhi –Agra
An early start today to the railway station to board the express train to Agra. Arrive in the morning itself and in time visit the magnificent Taj Mahal. Also visit the Agra Fort on the banks of the Yamuna. Return to see the Taj Mahal at sunset. (Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays)
Day 05 Agra - Jaipur
After breakfast, this morning leave for Jaipur in a private chauffeur driven car.
Visit the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri enroute. Optional visit to the Bharatpur sanctuary is available and can be arranged at short notice.
Day 06 Jaipur
Morning excursion to Amber Fort climbed on elephant back. Afternoon sightseeing of Jaipur including the City Palace, Central Museum, Jantar Mantar (observatory), Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds.
Day 07 Jaipur – Jodhpur
Morning is at leisure to explore the bazaars of Jaipur.
Fly to Jodhpur in the evening.
Day 08 Jodhpur
Your sightseeing today includes the formidable Mehrangarh fort and Jaswant Thada. In the afternoon take a jeep ride to visit one of the Bhinoi tribal villages.
Day 09 Jodhpur - Udaipur
Drive to Udaipur visiting Ranakpur temples en route. Lunch at the Maharani Bagh Orchards. The evening is at leisure.
Day 10 Udaipur
Visit the sights and take a boat ride in the evening on lake Pichola. See the private collection of vintage cars owned by the Maharaja of Udaipur.
Day 11 Udaipur-Aurangabad
Fly to Aurangabad via Mumbai this morning. In the afternoon visit the city of Aurangabad including bibi ka makbara
Day 12 Aurangabad
Full day excursion to Ajanta & Ellora caves. (Ajanta caves are closed on Mondays and Ellora on Tuesdays)
Day 13 Aurangabad- Bombay
Fly back to Mumbai in the morning. The afternoon is spent in seeing the important sights and the museum in Mumbai. (museum is closed on Monday)
Day 14 Leave Bombay
In time transfer to the airport for your departure flight for onward destination.
