Dodital Trek


Delhi – Rishikesh – Uttarkashi – Agoda – Dodital – Uttarkashi  - Rishikesh – Delhi         (10 Nts/11 Days)

This dazzling body of water is surrounded by an extremely dense forest of Oak, Pine, Deodar and Rhododenderon which gives it a primeval appearance.

The lake is filled with fish, including the rare ‘Himalayan Golden Trout’. The forest is rich in different kinds of wildlife and colorful birds – a bird watchers delight.

Dodital is located at an altitude of 3024 meters above sea level and is fed by natural springs in its depths. The water is calm as the lake is not tidal.



Day 01        Arrive Delhi
Met on arrival and transfer to hotel.
 
Day 02        Delhi
In the morning proceed for a sightseeing tour of the Old Delhi - a multi - layered city. Our first stop is the Red Fort built by the great Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan when he shifted his capital from Agra. A short drive brings us to the Great Mosque - The Jama Masjid. Drive on to see the memorial built for Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Afternoon Sightseeing tour of New Delhi includes a visit to the Qutub Minar - the tallest stone tower in India built in 1191 AD. Chhatarpur Temple - the most popular Hindu temple with blissful tranquility and serene ambience. Continue to Humayun's Tomb believed to have been designed by his widow.  Its plan is based on the description of Islamic paradise gardens and is known to have inspired the Taj Mahal and many later Mughal tombs. Also visit the Bahai Temple - a lotus shaped structure. It is made of marble, cement, dolomite and sand. It is open to all faiths and is an ideal place for meditation and obtaining peace and tranquility.
Day 03        Delhi – Rishikesh
        (Shatabdi Expess- 0610 / 1122 hrs)
Early morning check-out of the hotel and transfer to the railway station in time to board Shatabdi express for Haridwar. Arrive Haridwar and drive to Rishikesh. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Evening witness ‘Aarti’ of the Holy Ganges at Triveni Ghats a place which is believed to be the confluence of three rivers – Ganga, Yamuna & Sarawati. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04        Rishikesh – Uttarkashi ( 150 km / 5 hrs)
Morning drive to Uttarkashi. Arrive Uttarkashi and check-in at the Hotel. Blessed with flourishing beauty of nature Uttarkashi , a border hill district in the northern state of  Uttaranchal  in India , holds  the  grace of having the  origin of  rivers  Ganga and Yamuna , the lifelines of India. Also known as the 'Devbhumi'  (The land  of gods and goddesses), Evening explore the town.

Day 05        Uttarkashi – Kalyani – Agoda (Drive: 30 km / 1 hrs; Trek: 5 km / 3 hrs)
Morning drive to Kalyani, the starting point of trek to Dodital. Commence trek from kalyani. Today is the day to acclimatize yourself to the altitude. The trek is 5 km long and meanders up the valley through thick forests and agriculture fields. Agoda is the last village on this route. The life at Agoda is typical of the villages of the north India with blend of tradition and modernization visible throughout. Arrive and camp for the night.
Day 06        Agoda – Dodital (Trek: 13 km / 5 hrs)
Morning pack up and commence trek to Dodital. The trek today is moderate and winds up the valley passing through thick forests of Deodar and Rhododenderon. Arrive Dodital and camp. Evening enjoy the sunset and explore the surrounding.

Day 07        Dodital
Full day at leisure to explore the surrounding forest at your own pace.

Day 08        Dodital – Derwa Top – Dodital (Trek: 5 km / 3 hrs)
Morning trek up the valley to a high altitude pass – Derwa Pass, which opens up into the Yamunotri Valley. The trek is hard and requires effort but the rewards are much higher. The view from the pass is just fantastic with majestic Bunderpunch Peak in front and one can view all the major peaks of the higher Himalayas. Later trek down to the camp at Dodital.

Day 09        Dodital – Uttarkashi (Trek: 18 km / 5 hrs; Drive: 30 km / 1 hr)
Morning pack up and trace your steps back to Uttarkashi. Arrive Uttarkashi and check-in at the camp.

Day 10        Uttarkashi – Rishikesh – Haridwar - Delhi (Drive: 180 km / 6 hrs)
        (Shatabdi Express – 1810 / 2245 hrs)
Morning drive to Rishikesh and drive onwards to Haridwar in time to board Shatabdi express to Delhi. Arrive Delhi and check-in at the hotel.

Day 11        Leave Delhi
Morning check-out of the hotel and transfer to the International airport in time to board flight for onward destination
