Har Ki Dun Trek

Delhi – Rishikesh  - Netwar – Taluka – Har-ki-dun – Mussoorie - Delhi         (11 Nts/12 Days)

This is good trek for a small group and nature excursion since the valley is full of flora and fauna. One can spend time with herbs & shrubs for medicinal purpose. Also photography too has great area to snaps for variety of birds & nature. This is a holly place. Also it is a base of Swargarohini ht. 21000 ft. In our old granth (books) it is mentioned that Pandav went to Swarga (Heavan) through this mountain. This is a place where you can find Trees of Bhojpatra flower Bramhakamal. Swargarohini and Jaundar Glacier is at south-east of Har-ki-dun. Towards west you can see Bandar Punch. Duryodhan is a God of few community here, you can find temple of Duryodhan. People survives on farming Rice, Rajma. They use wood of Deodar tree for their house. You can find many people using Hukka for smoking.

Day 01        Arrive Delhi
Met on arrival and transfer to hotel.
 
Day 02        Delhi
In the morning proceed for a sightseeing tour of the Old Delhi - a multi - layered city. Our first stop is the Red Fort built by the great Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan when he shifted his capital from Agra. A short drive brings us to the Great Mosque - The Jama Masjid. Drive on to see the memorial built for Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Afternoon Sightseeing tour of New Delhi includes a visit to the Qutub Minar - the tallest stone tower in India built in 1191 AD. Chhatarpur Temple - the most popular Hindu temple with blissful tranquility and serene ambience. Continue to Humayun's Tomb believed to have been designed by his widow.  Its plan is based on the description of Islamic paradise gardens and is known to have inspired the Taj Mahal and many later Mughal tombs. Also visit the Bahai Temple - a lotus shaped structure. It is made of marble, cement, dolomite and sand. It is open to all faiths and is an ideal place for meditation and obtaining peace and tranquility.

Day 03        Delhi – Rishikesh
        (Shatabdi Express – 0610 / 1122 hrs)
Morning check-out of the hotel and transfer to the railway station in time to board Shatabdi express for Haridwar. Arrive Haridwar and transfer to Rishikesh. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Evening witness ‘Aarti’ of the Holy Ganges at Triveni Ghats a place which is believed to be the confluence of three rivers – Ganga, Yamuna & Sarawati.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04          Rishikesh – Sankri (210 km / 7 hrs)
Morning check-out of the hotel and drive to Sankri, the starting point of trek to Har ki dun. Arrive Sankri and check-in at TRH. Evening at leisure. Overnight at TRH

Day 05          Sankri - Taluka
morning check-out of TRH and commence trek to Taluka. The trail is well forested with chestnuts, bamboo and sycamore. There is a lot of opportunity for bird watchers along this trail. Taluka (1800 mts) is a small village with not much to offer, camp just before the village.

Overnight in tents.

Day 06          Taluka - Har-ki-dun
Morning pack up and commence trek to Har Ki Dun – Har ki dun is surrounded by glittering peaks and dense forests. The forests are rich in wild life and is veritable paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. The walk is through lush green terraced fields, grassy lands and very thick conifer forests. It is one of the most picturesque spots in the Garhwal Hills Arrive and camp. Rest of the day to explore the surroundings.

Overnight at the camp.

Day 07          Har-ki-dun
Full day at leisure to explore the valley.

Day 08          Har-ki-dun - Taluka
Morning pack up and trace your steps back. Arrive Taluka and camp for the night.

Day 09         Taluka - Sankri
Morning pack up and trek down to Sankri. Arrive and check-in at the TRH. Overnight at the TRH.

Day 10          Sankri - Mussoorie
Morning check-out of the TRH and and drive to Mussoorie. Arrive and check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the ‘Queen of Hill Station’

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11          Mussoorie – Dehradun – Delhi
        (Shatabdi Express – 1700 / 2245 hrs)
Check-out of the hotel and drive to Dehradun in time to board Shatabdi Express for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and check-in at the hotel.

Day 12          Departure Delhi
Morning check-out of the hotel and transfer to the International airport in time to board flight for onward destination
